Prologue: Meet Our Founders

So I decided to start (or rather start like the fourth time!) Pinstar’s Sims 4 Legacy, using all the rules from the official The Sims Legacy Challenge site: https://www.simslegacychallenge.com/

This is my Simself, Divan Lampright (not my real surname. I took my surname and “translated” it into English, in a way, remembering a joke my family usually tell each other; that we are “always right” –we can be very stubborn people…especially the patriarchs of my family). Anyway, his traits are Geek, Dog Lover and Creative (with the bonus trait, Domestic). His aspiration is to have a Successful Lineage. I will be following the Exemplar rule, meaning that any child produced with the “Geek” trait, will become the heir for the next generation. My favourite SimLit author, CathyTea, who inspired me to both try Sims 4 and its legacy challenge, also had an exemplar legacy (which I LOVE) and she had a lot of geeks in her family, although the exemplar trait was “Goofball”. With my luck, I’ll probably have a lot of goofballs and no geeks in my game! I also initially chose “Loner” as one of my Simself’s traits (because that is who I am in real life), but I decided a loner might find it too difficult to socialize with other people and if I’m going to adopt dogs and breed them, “Dog Lover” would be a better choice (and it is a real-life trait of mine!).

As you can see, it is snowing and Divan (it feels like I’m talking about myself in third-person and it feels very weird…) has an outfit where he’ll be wearing a goofy Christmas sweater and hat (during Winterfest, which I renamed Christmas Day). This will be a tradition for this legacy family, every time winter comes around (and I also will be giving unplayed Sims Christmas hats to their winter outfits). CathyTea will probably like this. I’m also taking the Extreme Start approach, which means I have to buy a big, empty 64×64 lot to live on, with no money at all (though I’ll keep some Simoleons around – just to feed my boy, as dogs don’t get free food in this game and there are no official rules for dogacies!) and start the challenge in Winter. Hopefully, we don’t freeze to death! In real life, I’ve only experienced snow twice (two days) in my lifetime of 21 years, living in the sunny South Africa and our winters can be quite cold. I can only imagine how a snowy winter must be like! I’ve never even built a snowman or made a snow angel!

This is my 9-year-old dog’s Simself. His name is D.J. (the first letters of my and my brother’s names) and he’s a Jack Russel. I have no idea why he is so blue…the poor little guy must be freezing like crazy! I can just imagine him in real life, shaking all over from the cold. He has never mated with another dog in real life (though he has unsuccessfully tried to – multiple times!), which is why I chose him to be the founder of my dogacy.

This is where they live…Hound’s Head, the biggest lot in Brindleton Bay and it looks beautiful in winter (the first snowflakes just started to fall, which symbolizes the beginning of the legacy/dogacy!). This is going to be a tough one, but I’m excited and (hopefully) prepared for what’s to come. Hopefully I don’t give up after Generation 2, like I did the multiple times I tried the Sims 4 Legacy Challenge in the past (I’m going to punish myself if I do)…and hopefully there are no game-breaking glitches or heirs dying before they can bring in the next generation!
