The Mask Wearer
She wakes up every morning
Her marble tears run down her marble face.
Wearing masks
To hide the pain
She lies for a living
Portraying someone
Who’s happy, in love, successful, fulfilled
Someone she’s not
She hates the reflection
Staring back at her
In the mirror
The terror
On the screen she’s always
With someone who loves her
In reality,
alone.
