Chapter 2: The Prince Family

07-04-20_7-24-05 PM

“I want to eat with Mommy,” Ali Prince tells his father.

“Okay, son,” his father replies. “Mommy is almost done cooking.”

“I want chips!” the toddler screams.

07-04-20_7-27-46 PM

Maximiliano Prince sits Ali down in his high chair and gives him the chips he demanded. He then leaves to grab his plate of mac and cheese, while his wife gobbles hers up.

07-04-20_7-28-55 PM

Ali becomes playful – a little too playful, and throws his bowl of chips right on the floor.

“Look, Mommy!” he calls. “My chips can fly!”

07-04-20_7-29-12 PM

Unfazed, Korinna Prince takes a few moments to smell her meal. “You first eat with your eyes,” she says. “Then with your nose…”

07-04-20_7-29-59 PM

“And finally with your mouth!” she exclaims while stuffing her mouth full of food. “Mmm…mmm…mmm…I love me some mac and cheese!”

Korinna stems from a long line of mermaid princesses. But when she met Max, he swept her off her fins and onto dry land. He’s a famous football player and Korinna left the sea to move in with him in his large mansion in Del Sol Valley. Now, they have three children and paparazzi following their every move.

07-04-20_7-31-14 PM

Hearing the commotion, Max returns and simply smiles as he lifts Ali out of his chair. “Oh, Ali,” he sighs.

07-04-20_7-31-59 PM

Just then, the other two children, teenage Raina, and her younger brother, Daquan, return from school.

07-04-20_7-33-54 PM

Max doesn’t feel like cleaning up right now, so he chooses to finish his meal instead. Raina is here anyway, so he can just leave it to her.

07-04-20_8-15-23 PM

“Now look what a mess you made!” Raina scolds her brother playfully. “Sit tight, Sissy will clean up and give you something else to eat.”

“I want fwoot loops!” Ali cries.

“Allright, allright,” Raina sighs and gets him some cereal.

07-04-20_8-16-49 PM

“So, how was school?” Korinna asks Daquan, as they play dolls in Ali’s room, which once belonged to Raina.

“It was okay,” Daquan replies. “But to be honest, I’m getting kinda tired of all the homework we’re getting lately.”

07-04-20_8-17-31 PM

Raina got an A for the school project she completed with some classmates recently, but her reward is chores, apparently. She couldn’t even tell anyone about it, because the first thing she had to do when she got home is clean up after her baby brother.

07-04-20_8-18-32 PM

“Cereal yummy!” Ali shouts. The high chair is still dirty, because Ali was adamant that he wanted his cereal right there and then.

07-04-20_8-20-35 PM

Luckily, Max didn’t leave everything to Raina and ran all over the house, picking up everyone’s dishes. Some ended up near the shark pond outside. “Must be Korinna or maybe Raina,” he thinks.

07-04-20_8-21-04 PM

Meanwhile, Ali falls asleep in the high chair – luckily not with his face inside his cereal.

07-04-20_8-21-34 PM

Korinna decides to take a dip in the pool. Being far away from the ocean, she needs all the time she can get in the water.

07-04-20_8-23-02 PM

She floats on her back…

07-04-20_8-28-47 PM

And falls asleep.

07-04-20_8-25-32 PM

Raina grabs a plate of mac and cheese from the fridge and sits down to eat. Max laughs at Ali sleeping in the chair, while Raina tries to hide the fact that she’s upset about no one paying much attention to her lately.

07-04-20_8-27-05 PM

Raina loves her siblings with her whole heart, but there are some days when she wishes she was an only child. Today is one of those days.

07-04-20_8-27-53 PM

Daquan can sense that there’s something wrong with his sister, but chooses to stay quiet until their father leaves.

07-04-20_8-29-13 PM

“Ready for bed, buddy?” Max asks Ali.

“Uh-uh,” Ali answers and shakes his head from left to right.

07-04-20_8-30-18 PM

Daquan hugs Raina when Max leaves with Ali. “I could tell you’re upset,” he says.

07-04-20_10-42-42 PM

Max decides to break away and feed the sharks. Ali’s been really difficult lately, much more than usual.

07-04-20_10-46-04 PM

The older kids do their homework together, while Raina talks about her feelings with Daquan. He’s a really sweet kid and always tries to cheer everyone up when they’re feeling down.

07-04-20_10-47-01 PM

Upstairs, Max is having a really hard time getting Ali to sleep.

“Go to bed, young man!” he orders.

“No!” Ali shouts.

07-04-20_10-47-43 PM

Max has had enough. “FOR PLUM’S SAKE, GO TO SLEEP RIGHT NOW!!!” he yells furiously.

07-04-20_10-50-09 PM

Ali soils his diaper. Max changes it reluctantly, while Ali laughs at the disgusted face his father pulls.

07-04-20_10-58-46 PM

“Did you also get something at school to celebrate Pride Day?” Raina asks Daquan and takes something out of her pocket. “I got this rainbow noise maker!”

07-04-20_10-59-38 PM

“I got this party horn!” Daquan replies and blows it. Raina smiles and finishes her homework.

07-04-20_11-00-21 PM

“Goodnight, my little monster,” Max says and kisses Ali goodnight.

07-04-20_11-00-38 PM

“What a day!” Max thinks to himself. He feels pretty proud of himself for finally getting Ali in bed.

07-04-20_11-01-28 PM

“Here’s some pixie dust for good luck,” Daquan says to Raina, who still hasn’t finished her homework, due to being distracted by her brother. “But you have to catch it or you’ll have bad luck for the rest of the year!”

07-04-20_11-02-20 PM

“I caught it!” Raina replies. “Thanks, little bro!”

07-04-20_11-04-21 PM

Raina realizes that her parents have been under a lot of stress lately, so she lets go of her anger and cleans the high chair.

07-04-20_11-05-54 PM

Max watches SuperKids: Cortex Catastrophe. He often watches that movie with the kids and became a fan himself. “It’s high time time for a family vacation,” he thinks.

07-04-20_11-07-31 PM

It’s already past his bedtime, so Daquan goes to bed. “Another boring school day tomorrow,” he thinks as he climbs in.

07-04-20_11-07-55 PM

Raina drinks a glass of water from the sink. It’s hard to stay hydrated when you’re a fish out of water.

07-04-20_11-09-40 PM

Max wanted to relax in the hot tub just before bed, but was too tired and drifted off.

07-04-20_11-12-49 PM

Raina also goes to bed, thankful for a brother like Daquan and regrets wishing she was an only child. “What a boring life I would’ve had if not for Daquan and Ali,” she thinks to herself.

07-04-20_11-13-35 PM

Korinna woke up from her slumber and is feeling frisky. While watching a romcom, she decides to surprise Max in the hot tub afterwards.

Author’s Notes:

Thank you for reading. This chapter featured the Prince family by pammiechick. Ali really was a handful and really stressed his parents out! I also had a bug in the beginning where Max and Korinna would talk endlessly and not do anything else, so I had to reset them – not sure why. I also think toddlers are bugged, because Ali kept wandering off and getting out of bed (though it might just be him being a fussy toddler). Hope you enjoyed.

Chapter 1: The Matson Family

How to stay calm during a thunderstorm“, Mya Cornwell types into the search bar on her computer’s browser. She’s always been tense during thunderstorms and today’s thunderstorm has taken its toll on her.

07-02-20_5-58-13 PM

How to come up with a convincing excuse not to do my homework”, Mya’s son, Dylan Matson, types into the search bar on the computer upstairs. When Mya and her husband, Reid Matson, got married, she opted to keep her maiden surname. When their son was born, they decided to let him use his father’s last name, though.

07-02-20_5-58-38 PM

It’s been almost ten years since Mya and Reid travelled abroad. They were once famous world adventurers who went backpacking from Granite Falls to Isla Paradiso. Once Mya fell pregnant with their first child, however, they decided to settle down in Brindleton Bay and retire from their adventuring.

07-02-20_6-34-47 PM

“This is some useful info on archaeology,” Reid notes while reading a book on archaeology. “Makes me want to travel again.” Reid now works as a local fisherman, while Mya is a stay-at-home mom.

07-02-20_6-36-26 PM

“Time to feed Mia again!” Dylan remembers and fills the automatic pet feeder. The family recently adopted Mia, their dog, from a nearby pet shelter.

07-02-20_6-50-21 PM

Mia is petrified of the thunderstorm, but naps peacefully on the front porch bench. The flowers are a calming presence.

07-02-20_6-38-06 PM

Reid reads his book, while Dylan completes his homework, both in total silence.

07-02-20_6-39-32 PM

“Hello, my dear,” Reid greets and kisses Mya on the cheek. “How are you holding up?”

07-02-20_6-41-20 PM

“I’m fine,” she answers.

“We all know that when a woman says that, she means she exact opposite. Now, tell me what’s bugging you.”

07-02-20_6-41-57 PM

“It’s that awful storm outside. You know I can’t stand it.”

“And eating chips calms you down a bit,” Reid replies.

07-02-20_6-42-09 PM

“These chips smell like heaven,” Mya says and holds the bowl closer to her nose.

“I have an idea!” Reid shouts and heads to the dining room.

07-02-20_6-43-11 PM

“Hey, bud!” Reid greets his son. “Need help with your homework?”

“Nah, I’m nearly finished,” Dylan replies. “But thanks, anyway.”

07-02-20_6-44-25 PM

“What if I told you you didn’t have to do homework for a whole week?” Reid asks.

07-02-20_6-48-17 PM

“No school?” Dylan asks.

“Nope,” Reid answers.

07-02-20_6-46-00 PM

“I’m in!” Dylan shouts.

07-02-20_6-47-04 PM

Back in the kitchen, Mya’s getting more anxious every second.

07-02-20_6-49-33 PM

Reid decided to make himself a salad. Quick and easy.

07-02-20_6-49-57 PM

Or so he thought. He accidentally cut his finger, but there’s no blood. “Plummit!” he shouts.

07-02-20_7-22-33 PM

The pain stops and he finishes making his salad. “I told you to be more careful in the kitchen,” Mya says. “We both know you’re no master chef.”

07-02-20_7-23-18 PM

She leaves to fetch Dylan’s bowl from the dining room and takes it to the dishwasher. “I’m so sick of having to clean up after everyone,” she mumbles angrily.

07-02-20_7-24-03 PM

“It feels like my head’s going to explode!” Mya yells and presses on her head to ease the tension.

“Come sit a while, dear,” Reid tells her.

07-02-20_7-25-12 PM

“So what happened while I was at work?” Reid enquires.

“Not much,” Mya replies.

07-02-20_7-25-55 PM

“Except when Mia tried to comfort me,” Mya remembers, with a sudden smile on her face. “She knows I’m scared of thunderstorms. Just one of the many things we have in common!”

07-02-20_7-26-12 PM

“She’s so sweet, isn’t she?” Reid smiles.

“The sweetest!” Mya laughs.

07-02-20_7-26-28 PM

“Not to blow my own horn, but your husband’s pretty sweet as well,” Reid says confidently.

“What do you mean?” Mya asks.

“I was thinking we should go back to Selvadorada,” Reid replies. “Dylan is older now and I think we could all use a break…”

“Are you insane?!” Mya shouts angrily. “We haven’t been there in ages and now you want to risk everyone’s lives!”

07-02-20_7-28-37 PM

She storms off and goes to bed. “What in Watcher’s name is he thinking?!” she thinks to herself as she climbs in.

07-02-20_7-29-21 PM

Mia decides to head inside and whine in front of the door.

07-02-20_7-31-27 PM

“Goodnight, bud,” Reid says and kisses his son’s head as he tucks him in. “Get ready for the adventure of your life!”

07-02-20_7-32-27 PM

He then takes out his phone to make a call. “Hello, this is Reid Matson,” he greets. “Yes, the Reid Matson. I’d like to book a seven day trip to Selvadorada.”

Author’s Notes: Thank you for reading. I was inspired to start this story after seeing the new(ish) Tiny Twavellers CC Pack. This story will basically revolve around seven different families (with young children), who all like to travel and explore the world. This chapter featured friendsfan367‘s submitted family, the Matsons.

A different family will be featured in every chapter. I’m excited to see how different each family’s adventures will be and how they’ll interact with each other. I hope you enjoyed.

  • The Matsons’ home was originally created by lilsimsie for the  SimsieSave, in which I’m playing. I slightly modified it to suit my liking, particularly Dylan’s room.

I have to apologize for my delay in releasing this.  I did not forget.  I had to step back and take a few days off social media and television.  TBH it had me in a dark scary place.   I am feeling better but still sad to have let down those who were counting on me.

A Mother’s Love

Vet Participant june

People often call me crazy. I’m that crazy lady who in a post-apocalyptic world, has a lush roof garden and talks to her plants every single day.

06-11-20_10-57-59 PM

I’m that annoying lady who constantly tries to convince others to vote for change. To go green, clean up the town and make it a better place for everyone.

06-13-20_1-31-43 PM

No one seems to care about that, though.

06-12-20_9-37-54 PM

Except my husband, Stuart. When we got married 22 years ago, we never thought Evergreen Harbor would end up in the horrendous state it’s in now. We’re both passionate about the environment and made it our mission to keep this town green.

06-12-20_9-45-43 PM

Obviously, the exact opposite happened. The town became more and more industrial each year, robots and cyborgs started taking over and things couldn’t get any worse. Even the town’s name was changed to Hazard Harbor, because it truly is hazardous to live here.

06-11-20_10-55-17 PM

Stuart and I now have four children and a robot of our own. I work as a freelance crafter, making fizzy juice, fabricating furniture and producing candles. Stuart works as a civil engineer and he created Cyclo 2.0 in his spare time – a robot who helps out around the house and Stuart hopes that one day, the town will be restored to its former glory with the help of his beloved robot. I fear this is the beginning of the end.

06-11-20_11-01-49 PM

Having a big family is both a blessing and a curse. My youngest, Chelsey, loves wearing anything with flowers and really enjoys reading flash cards. She’s my little ray of sunshine in a time when the skies are always grey.

I try to teach all my children to live an eco lifestyle and reduce their carbon footprint. Luckily, most of them do.

06-13-20_5-33-00 PM

Except my eldest daughter, Caroline. I wouldn’t exactly call her the “black sheep of the family”, as I love all my children with every ounce of my being and treat them equally, regardless of their behaviour. However, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to be under the same roof as her and she’s busy destroying everything Stuart and I built up over the years.

She loves living in her own filth and wants this town to remain in its current smoggy and polluted state. Her room is something straight out of a horror film and I don’t even dare to set a foot in there anymore.

06-12-20_8-56-24 PM

She wasn’t always like this, though. As a child, she always took out the trash and did all her chores. She had a great relationship with her younger sister, Carla, and they always played together.

06-11-20_10-56-51 PM

Now, these siblings have a typical love-hate relationship. When they’re not fighting, Carla visits Caroline in her room and they start chatting like good old friends. She even offers to clean up her sister’s room every now and then, much to the annoyance of Caroline.

06-12-20_9-21-53 PM

When Caroline came out, I was the first person she told. I simply wrapped my arms around her and promised that I’ll always support her – no matter what. Little did I know how difficult it would be to keep that promise years later.

She thinks because she’s an “adult” now that she can do whatever she pleases and won’t look for a job or go to college. When she’s not sleeping until late in the afternoon, she dives into dumpsters and finds new things to clutter up her room.

06-11-20_11-11-18 PM

I probably shouldn’t blame her. Most colleges were destroyed in the apocalypse and work is really hard to come by nowadays. Still, she could study or work online.

Sometimes we all gather around the kitchen table and pretend we’re not just another dysfunctional family. The other day, I announced my fifth pregnancy to everyone and they were all ecstatic at the news.

06-13-20_1-04-47 PM

The baby will be here in a few days. I’m really excited and petrified at the same time. I can only hope he decides to follow in his parents’ footsteps and not his eldest sister’s. But a mother’s love is unconditional and unwavering. I’ll always love my children, even if they choose a different path in life.

Author’s Notes:  Thanks for reading! I have decided to participate in the Monthly SimLit Short Story Challenge this month, organized by LisaBee, EA Game Changer for The Sims 4 and fellow SimLit writer. The theme of this month is “love”. I also created this family in honour of #BlackLivesMatter and Pride Month. We’re living in difficult times and it’s more important now than ever to be kind and accepting of each other, despite our differences.

I kindly invite you to please read all the stories entered for this challenge at the end of the month and vote for your top three choices in both categories (Novice and Veteran), meaning you will have a total of six votes. Any vote that doesn’t contain three votes in each category will be thrown out, so please vote for three Novice stories and three Veteran stories!

GloPoWriMo – Day 30

Reunion

04-30-20_11-59-44 AM

Why

Do you cry?

It’s not yet time to die

Soon

With the rise of a new moon

We’ll all sing a different tune

Lovers will feel each other’s warm embrace

We’ll kick this virus in its face

There will not be a single case

We’ll gather again around the fire

Children bonding with their sire

But for now, the situation is incredibly dire

So hang on and stay home

If you need to talk, just reach for your phone

We’re in this together; you’re never alone.

GloPoWriMo – Day 29

To My Furry Friend

04-29-20_12-48-23_PM

Zinzan

My big furry man

My baby boy

You fill my heart with so much joy

Always so excited to see me

Without you, what would the world be?

Yes, you’re aggressive to every stranger

But that’s only because you sense immediate danger

You’re so stinking cute

Though I sometimes want to put you on mute

I wish you’d stop licking your wounds open

Soon you’ll stop – at least, I’m hopin’.

GloPoWriMo – Day 28

My Very First Room

Before I had a brother, I had a room

But I lost it as soon as my brother left our mother’s womb

Its walls were white

Colours so bright

Blue and red

Were the colours of my bed

A closet full of toys

Soon there would be two boys

Many stains were made on the floor

When he was born, I was shown the door

I had a new room

But it was dark and full of gloom.

Daily Prompt: First, read this brief reminiscence of Emily Dickinson, written by her niece. And now, here is the prompt that the museum suggests:

Martha Dickinson Bianchi’s description of her aunt’s cozy room, scented with hyacinths and a crackling stove, warmly recalls the setting decades later. Describe a bedroom from your past in a series of descriptive paragraphs or a poem. It could be your childhood room, your grandmother’s room, a college dormitory or another significant space from your life.”

GloPoWriMo – Day 27

2020: A Review

unnamed

The start of a new decade

Many mistakes were made

A year we should celebrate,

but now a year we hate.

In a few years from now,

provided we make it somehow,

2020 won’t be a treasured memory.

On the contrary,

it’s a godawful year

I’ve forgotten how to cheer.

I give it 0.5 stars out of 5

Hopefully we make it out alive.
