Chapter 1: A Fresh Start

After The Geeky Bachelor, the Lamprights and their pets moved to an empty lot in the coastal town of Brindleton Bay. They managed to get a tent, a cooler, some food bowls for the dogs and pet beds. They immediately start browsing for jobs on their phones. Divan got a job as a tech guru and Lila got a job as a local entertainer.

Then, D.J. jumps into Divan’s arms and Cairo into Lila’s.

“So, I know our living situation isn’t ideal,” Divan says. “But I’m certain that we’ll make it work – together, we can achieve anything!”

“You probably didn’t sign up to marry a hobo,” Divan jokes. “But it’s too late now! You’re stuck with me forever!”

Lila bursts out in laughter.

Divan then grabs some yogurt from the cooler.

“Ah…fresh, smooth yogurt,” Divan says as he sits on the cooler and smells his bowl of strawberry-flavoured yogurt. “The strawberries are a nice touch!”

In the meantime, Lila tells Cairo not to pee on the bush next to the tent and not to pick a fight with a squirrel.

“Oh, well…I tried,” Lila says to Divan, while Cairo gets into a fight with a squirrel in the bush. “I feel like taking a selfie!”

She takes a selfie and posts it on Simstagram with a caption that reads: “Here’s to new beginnings.”

Cairo got injured in her fight with the squirrel and picked up some sort of disease. All Divan and Lila can do is hope that the disease goes away, as vet bills are the last thing they can afford right now.

“Let’s check out our new crib!” Lila exclaims and gets into the tent.

D.J. runs all over the yard, pleased with his newfound freedom.

Cairo on the other hand, drinks from a pee puddle that leaked onto the grass from the bush.

Divan, Lila and D.J. then visit Club Calico, the local lounge, which includes an outdoor pool that Divan proceeds to splash into. They left Cairo behind, not sure if her disease is contagious.

Divan and Lila swim together, enjoying the scenery around them.

“Beautiful isn’t it?” Lila asks Divan.

“Not as beautiful as you,” Divan replies and makes out with Lila in the water.

“I’m so happy to be here with you,” Divan says and embraces Lila after they get out of the pool.

“We’re not alone,” Lila replies and points to D.J. “Hey, let’s ask the bartender over there to take a pic of us!”

Divan spreads out his arms, while Lila holds him from behind in true Titanic fashion, as the bartender takes the shot.

“DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT URINATE ON MY SHOES!!!” an angry elderly man shouts to D.J.

“Calm down, Grampa!” Lila yells. “I’ve been holding it in for some time now and I might just pee on your precious shoes myself!”

“Did I ever mention how hot you look in those swimming trunks of yours?” Lila flirts with Divan at the bar.

They later head inside the lounge, where a paparazzi is busy capturing shots of world-famous actress, Judith Ward. “I’ll show that paparazzi real talent!” Lila thinks to herself, as she sits on the sofa.

She then sits by the piano and starts to play. Everyone’s attention is diverted and the whole lounge watches her, including Divan. “She has a lot to learn,” Divan thinks to himself. “But I see a star in the making, just waiting to be discovered.”

Chapter 1: New Beginnings

Hello and welcome to all the mortals reading this right now (I know only mortals will read this, as vampires aren’t particularly interested in technological inventions, like the computers or smartphones you’re reading this on). My birth name is Rosemary Elizabeth Thorne, although I go by Rose, and this is my story.

11-13-18_5-26-51 PM

A year ago, I was turned into a vampire by none other than the infamous Count of Forgotten Hollow, Vladislaus Straud himself. He has all the local mortals fooled with his story that he is the descendant of the original founder of Forgotten Hollow. Mortals…they are oh-so gullible and easily fooled. I always knew there was something off about him, even before that fateful night when he turned me.

Before my transformation, I was just an innocent young woman living with her parents in Willow Creek. My parents were very wealthy and they loved spending time in our garden. That’s why they named me Rosemary…roses were my mother’s favourite flower and it was the first flower my father gave her on their very first date. Mary was my mother’s name and Elizabeth (my second name) my grandmother’s. Although my parents were very busy with their careers, they always made time for me. In the evenings, we would play together before they read me bedtime stories when it was time to sleep. When my father wanted to teach me a lesson, he would always say that there is a vampire who likes to come out in the late evenings and capture naughty children. Little did he or I know, that one would come for me…just not as a child.

I graduated high school last year and after my graduation ceremony, I headed home quite late in the evening. I went out with my friends for old time’s sake, as many would go to different places in the world and we’d never see each other again. When I got home, I took a long bubble bath and climbed into bed. I felt very uneasy and restless the whole night…I could feel an unwelcome presence in the room and at first I thought it was just my imagination. I pulled the blankets over my head, hoping that when I stick my head out again, the presence would leave the room. It didn’t…

11-13-18_3-52-04 PM

Before me, I saw the ugliest, most fearsome creature I’ve ever seen. He had blue, glowing eyes, long, pointy ears and razor-sharp teeth. He was smiling at me. I wanted to scream, but no sound would come out. He mesmerized me and the next thing I knew, he sunk his teeth into my neck. It was the most intense pain I’ve ever experienced and after I could feel the blood leaving my body, he disappeared as if he was never there in the first place. I truly died that night and I became a completely different person than the one I was before Vlad’s visit.

11-13-18_5-39-35 PM

I left home when I started to see myself changing…my skin became as pale as snow, my eyeballs have become as black as night and my once-beautiful green eyes have changed to the colour of blood. I could feel a burning sensation in my throat, an unquenchable thirst for living blood. I didn’t want my parents to see the monster that their daughter has become, nor did I want to sink my teeth into them.

I built my own underground lair a while ago, on an open spot in the sleepy town of Forgotten Hollow. Vlad took my life a year ago and one day, I will take his…

Prologue: Meet Our Founders

So I decided to start (or rather start like the fourth time!) Pinstar’s Sims 4 Legacy, using all the rules from the official The Sims Legacy Challenge site:

10-31-18_4-29-07 PM

This is my Simself, Divan Lampright (not my real surname. I took my surname and “translated” it into English, in a way, remembering a joke my family usually tell each other; that we are “always right” –we can be very stubborn people…especially the patriarchs of my family). Anyway, his traits are Geek, Dog Lover and Creative (with the bonus trait, Domestic). His aspiration is to have a Successful Lineage. I will be following the Exemplar rule, meaning that any child produced with the “Geek” trait, will become the heir for the next generation. My favourite SimLit author, CathyTea, who inspired me to both try Sims 4 and its legacy challenge, also had an exemplar legacy (which I LOVE) and she had a lot of geeks in her family, although the exemplar trait was “Goofball”. With my luck, I’ll probably have a lot of goofballs and no geeks in my game! I also initially chose “Loner” as one of my Simself’s traits (because that is who I am in real life), but I decided a loner might find it too difficult to socialize with other people and if I’m going to adopt dogs and breed them, “Dog Lover” would be a better choice (and it is a real-life trait of mine!).

As you can see, it is snowing and Divan (it feels like I’m talking about myself in third-person and it feels very weird…) has an outfit where he’ll be wearing a goofy Christmas sweater and hat (during Winterfest, which I renamed Christmas Day). This will be a tradition for this legacy family, every time winter comes around (and I also will be giving unplayed Sims Christmas hats to their winter outfits). CathyTea will probably like this. I’m also taking the Extreme Start approach, which means I have to buy a big, empty 64×64 lot to live on, with no money at all (though I’ll keep some Simoleons around – just to feed my boy, as dogs don’t get free food in this game and there are no official rules for dogacies!) and start the challenge in Winter. Hopefully, we don’t freeze to death! In real life, I’ve only experienced snow twice (two days) in my lifetime of 21 years, living in the sunny South Africa and our winters can be quite cold. I can only imagine how a snowy winter must be like! I’ve never even built a snowman or made a snow angel!

10-31-18_4-29-17 PM

This is my 9-year-old dog’s Simself. His name is D.J. (the first letters of my and my brother’s names) and he’s a Jack Russel. I have no idea why he is so blue…the poor little guy must be freezing like crazy! I can just imagine him in real life, shaking all over from the cold. He has never mated with another dog in real life (though he has unsuccessfully tried to – multiple times!), which is why I chose him to be the founder of my dogacy.

10-31-18_4-30-50 PM

This is where they live…Hound’s Head, the biggest lot in Brindleton Bay and it looks beautiful in winter (the first snowflakes just started to fall, which symbolizes the beginning of the legacy/dogacy!). This is going to be a tough one, but I’m excited and (hopefully) prepared for what’s to come. Hopefully I don’t give up after Generation 2, like I did the multiple times I tried the Sims 4 Legacy Challenge in the past (I’m going to punish myself if I do)…and hopefully there are no game-breaking glitches or heirs dying before they can bring in the next generation!
